Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring? Loops, lights, and a favorite pair of needle holders. You will also be asked to create your own model for mouthguard fabrication. Detailed instructions for fabricating your model will be emailed to you.  Also, see below.

MAXILLARY MODEL CRITERIA FOR MOUTHGUARD FABRICATION

1- Bring a maxillary stone or printed model of teeth with adjacent palatal and sulcular tissue for fabricating a mouth guard at the hands-on program. If you are bringing a stone model, make sure it is lubricated or sealed in some fashion.

2- Requirements of Cast: See attached images

Trim the base level with the occlusal plane.

Sides of cast to be trimmed up to maximum depth of sulcus and at a 10-150 angle (so as not to trim facial surfaces of anterior teeth).

It is okay to trim the base of the cast to show a small hole in the vault of the palate or a horseshoe-shaped final model

Base should be trimmed to a minimum of 10-12 mm of the palatal tissue as it extends apical to the maxillary teeth. See image.
