Dowsett ASD zoom seminar—October 31, 2025

“This doesn’t need to be scary! Tips and Tricks for Treating amateur teams.

Dr. David Dowsett, DMD

Dr David

Most of us have the basic knowledge and skill set to help any amateur athlete or team. In fact, they are all in our practice. Whether it be a youth soccer team, high school basketball or college field hockey or football team, it can be intimidating daunting to take that first step. You may understand the WHAT and WHY to do this, but less prepared on precisely HOW to start.

How many times have you left a course thinking—“excellent information/awesome!...now how do I actually do this?” OR “I can figure it out, but what if someone already has a way?”

Building on the recent blog post by Dr. Alexander Back, Dr. Dowsett will share his insight and adventures helping these athletes. From how to initiate contact with decision makers, to getting players and parents on board, to the actual nuts and bolts of carrying out screenings, and capturing impressions for mouthguards, Dr. Dowsett’s seminar is committed to having you leave with a plan in place. It’s only fun when the process goes as seamlessly as possible.

Meant to be an informal conversation, Dr. Dowsett will share his insight/experiences for approximately 30 minutes followed by Q and A for another 30 minutes.

  • who to contact and how;
  • what does my setup look like—on a playing field, in a training room;
  • shared examples of consent forms, equipment lists, letters to coaches or athletic trainers
  • practical examples with tips and things to consider.

At the end of this discussion, you should have a toolkit to approach any team to get a relationship started and successful program under way.
